U.S. Ambassador to Hungary to tender her resignation in January

Thursday, October 6, 2016

Following the presidential election in the United States, the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary will tender her resignation on 20 January 2017 along with all of her counterparts. Colleen Bell also told Hungarian weekly Figyelő on Thursday that U.S. companies operating in Hungary are content with the economic environment, but, in her view, young Hungarians are bothered by corruption therefore economic governance should strive for transparency if they are considered important for the country.

In an interview with weekly Figyelő, Bell reaffirm that contrary to earlier press reports she would not prematurely leave her position in Budapest. She added, though, that on 20 January, along with her fellow ambassadors, she will tender her resignation (after the presidential election in the United States on 8 November).
