Cooperation between Hungary and China has never been so good as it is today - said Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Thursday at the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual Primary and Secondary School opening ceremony in Budapest.

In this chaotic world everyone is looking for peaceful and safe places. Hungary can remain peaceful and stable if it establishes strong strategic cooperation with the world's fastest growing economy, the People's Republic of China said the foreign minister.

There are many countries around the world that want to be China’s key partner; but Hungarians are among the very few that beyond economic cooperation also interested in Chinese culture and language; that's why the government has decided to expand Hungarian-Chinese relations in the educational and cultural sectors said Szijjártó.

The Chinese and the Hungarian governments signed an Agreement on Educational Cooperation in October, which specifies that the Chinese government provides language learning materials, textbooks and financial support to the bilingual school. China also sends language instructors, and trains Hungarian teachers in China; furthermore, it provides camping opportunities for students learning Chinese.

Students who are in ELTE masters program or students studying Hungarian at Beijing University will be given an opportunity to take part in the internship program of the bilingual school to gain work experience explained the minister.

This school is unique in Central Europe because it comprises an elementary and a high school so students can remain in the program until they receive their high school diploma.

Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Hungary Duan Jielong said the school is a symbol of Chinese-Hungarian friendship, which thanks to the support of the Hungarian government has been expanded this year. This shows that the Hungarian government and the people of Hungary support the idea of maintaining friendly relations with China - he added.
