FM Péter Szijjártó condemns the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey

We are shocked to hear the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey, which we condemn in the strongest possible terms said Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó to MTI following the course of events on Monday evening after an armed attacker killed the Russian ambassador to Turkey in Ankara.

Péter Szijjártó said: this tragedy is proof that terrorism must be combated in all its forms adding that the Hungarian government expresses its condolences to the ambassador's family and all the people of Russia.

Russia's ambassador to Ankara 62-year-old Andrei Karlov died Monday night of serious wounds after being shot by an assassin. The attack occurred in Ankara contemporary art gallery, where the ambassador visited a photo exhibition entitled "Russia in the eyes of Turks." The assassin was shot dead by Turkish security forces.
