Antonio Tajani has been elected as the new president of the European Parliament.
Krisztina Morvai also supported the new president, especially because Tajani was the only politician among European officials who after the 2006 bloody events in Budapest came to Hungary and expressed his solidarity with the victims of the Gyurcsany regime - in 2006, Gyurcsany ordered police to shoot at peaceful citizens celebrating the national holiday.
Besides Tajani’s new presidency the other new development in EU affairs is that Malta took over the EU's rotating presidency. In the parliamentary debate Krisztina Morvai recalled deaf MEP Helga Stevens message and recommended it to the attention of the Maltese Presidency:
"I may be deaf, but I have a very good sense of hearing the voice of the people!"
It is time - Morvai said - that European politicians start listening to the people, and start dealing with the real problems of real people, like mass migration.
