Thermal spa planned in Diósd

Monday, February 20, 2017

There is a plan to convert an unused limestone mine into a thermal spa in Diósd.

The facility will cover a 26 thousand square meters land; part of it - about 11 thousand square meters - will be built underground.

The entertainment complex when completed incorporates wellness and spa services, beauty salons, saunas, beaches, slide parks, underground waterfalls, 4D cinema, and restaurants.

Currently the quarries are surrounded by forest, and are part of a geological park.

Mining began in this area in the eighteenth century. The stones used to build the parliament and Buda Castle were quarried from this site.

Planners of the project argue that the thermal spa when completed will be a unique structure; nothing similar exists in our country or even this part of Europe.
