FM Péter Szijjártó: The example of Macedonia shows the dangers of intervening in a country's internal affairs by foreign forces

Friday, April 28, 2017

What we see in Macedonia is a consequence of a series of external interventions in the country’s internal affairs, which clearly shows the dangers of such action for the stability of the country commented Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó - who is attending the EU foreign ministers meeting in Malta - on the chaos in Skopje.

Previously, Macedonia had a stable government, which won five elections in a row.

"Over the past two or three years, however, foreign interference in Macedonia's internal affairs has been occurring. An embassy of a faraway country interfering in the election campaign, and organizations associated with George Soros financing anti-government campaigns; meanwhile, ethnic minority parties are manipulated by a government of a neighboring country," Szijjártó explained - the consequences are instability, disorder, and violence.
