Thanks to the government's family planning policy over the past six years the number of abortions decreased in Hungary dramatically; before 2010, more than 40 thousand abortions were performed a year, this number has dropped to 30 thousand this year said State Secretary in Charge of Religious, Ethnic and Civil Society Relations Miklós Soltész on Tuesday in Székesfehérvár.
Soltész added that there is more to be done, but the decline is still a great achievement.
The news was announced in a press conference held jointly with Székesfehérvár Bishop Antal Spányi who set up a support group to help those in vulnerable situations.
Soltész said that the ministry supported all denominations in recent years helping their community-building efforts, which will continue in the future as well.
