Another five hundred Ukrainian children can spend part of their summer vacation in Hungary

Hungarian Government Commissioner Responsible for Transcarpathian Region István Grezsa announced in Kiev earlier the week that another 500 Ukrainian children can spend part of their summer vacation at Lake Balaton.

The Hungarian official announced the news while consulting with representatives of Ukrainian government officials during his two-day visit to Kiev. He explained that this time primary school children who study Hungarian will be the beneficiaries of the program.

Grezsa recalled that last week Miklos Soltész, State Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources (EMMI) announced during his visit to Kiev that the Hungarian government supported 700 Ukrainian children's summer vacation whose parents had died or wounded in the armed conflict in the Donetsk Basin.

The Hungarian official also revealed that the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to buy a piece of property for the Hungarian community in Kiev to build a Hungarian House in the Ukrainian capital - with this, more than 10 years of a dream come true for the Hungarian community of Kiev.

In addition, the Hungarian government is planning to finance the renovation of the Petőfi statue in Kiev. He also noted that the government would like to establish a Hungarian House in Lemberg (Lviv) in West Ukraine for Hungarians living in the area.

Grezsa informed his Ukrainian counterpart that the Hungarian government relaunched the Department of Ukrainian Language and Culture Study Program at Nyíregyháza University.

He also announced that with Ukrainian Ambassador to Hungary Ljubov Nepopp they will visit Hajdúszoboszló where 12 Ukrainian soldiers, who wounded in the armed conflict in the Donetsk basin, are receiving rehabilitation treatment funded by private donations.

One of the government's main goals is to help ethnic Hungarians living in Ukraine remain in their homeland.

The government besides helping the Hungarian minority in Ukraine also doing its best to support the Ukrainian majority. One such support includes the complete renovation of the children's section of Nagyszőlő hospital.
