First instance verdict on a criminal case involving a tax fraud was handed down by Kecskemét County Court.

Five of the nine defendants received prison sentences, four defendants including, former Multiple Kickboxing World Champion Bettina Csábi received suspended sentences writes hvg.hu.

Bettina Csábi was sentenced to two years' imprisonment suspended for four years probation. The former world champion was also sentenced to HUF 9.5 million in confiscation of assets.

According to the prosecution of the Bács-Kiskun County Public Prosecutor's Office, the wife of accused István K., second-degree defendant Bettina Csábi and third-instance defendant Hajnalka B. agreed in summer 2010 to form a criminal organization to buy grain at a net price in Romania and sell it as domestic product in Hungary.

At first, they sold the grain in the name of a fictive company, and subsequently, under the name of five other businesses, which were also managed by them but VAT was not paid.
