The three-time Olympic champion and title holder of the event defended her title in 400 m IM with a new world record (4:29.33). This is Hosszu’s fourth overall World Title in this event.

Katinka Hosszú finished the World Championship by winning two gold (200 and 400 m IM) one silver (200 m back) and one bronze medals (200 m butterfly).
"I hope lots of kids watched the world championship and this two weeks inspired them, and gave them motivation so that one day they too can represent Hungary. We are a small country, but sport is a great opportunity to show ourselves," said Katinka.

Katinka also praised the fantastic atmosphere of the world championship; she is extremely pleased and proud that her foreign friends without exception, were astonished at the excellent organization of the tournament and the beauty of Budapest.
The other medal winner of the day was Dávid Verrasztó, who won silver medal in men’s 400 m IM.
