Car bomb explodes in Kiev

A car bomb exploded in downtown Kiev on Friday afternoon reported Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.

A man died and a woman and a child injured in the blast; the victims were taken to hospital.

UNIAN reported that the bomb was mounted on a Toyota Camry passenger car. Eyewitnesses reported that the detonation was quite powerful. Authorities have not yet provided details of the incident and the identity of the perpetrators.

Interior Adviser Zorjan Skirjak confirmed to Ukrainian TV that a man died and a woman and a child were injured in the explosion. "As far as I know, the child is fine," he added.

Authorities are still working to identify the victims said the Ukrainian politician.
