Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó summoned the ambassador of Ukraine into the foreign ministry on Monday to personally inform the ambassador that Hungary would block all Ukrainian initiatives aiming to integrate the country into European institutions due to the outrageous language law passed by the parliament preventing ethnic minorities in Ukraine from studying in their mother tongue said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamás Menczer.

He said Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó had instructed Hungarian diplomats to block all important Ukrainian initiatives in international organisations.

Hungary will raise the issue of the language law at all international forums including the UN, the OSCE and the European Union said the spokesman.

Menczer also mentioned that Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó discussed the education law with his Ukrainian colleague in Tallinn recently, but he gave an explanation which is unacceptable to the Hungarian side.

Hungarian politicians are very upset with the new Ukrainian education law and feel stabbed in the back, as Hungary was one of the main supporters of Ukrainian aspirations to integrate into European institutions including the EU.
