Iran and Hungary signed a framework agreement on research and technical cooperation between universities

Monday, October 16, 2017

Iran and Hungary signed a framework agreement on research and technical cooperation between their universities to strengthen educational relations between the two countries, said State Secretary for Education at the Ministry of Human Resources László Palkovics on Monday to MTI.

The government would like to make Hungarian higher education as international as possible by accepting more foreign students into the system.

This policy is already on the right path, as in 2014 the share of foreign university students in Hungarian Universities was only 6 percent, and now it is 11 percent.

Currently, more than two thousand Iranian students study in Hungary, most of whom attend medical schools.

In order to boost cooperation in the higher education sector, both sides pledged to increase the number of state-sponsored scholarships to 100.

The extension of the framework agreement on research and technical cooperation effects the fields of artificial intelligence, laser physics, medicine, transport and water management.

The bilateral agreement will be coordinated jointly by the University of Szeged and the University of Yazd, said László Palkovics.
