Mass casualty and evacuation drill conducted by the military health service

The Tuesday's drill conducted by the army's health service with close cooperation with other government agencies, said the Medical Director of the Hungarian Armed Forces Health Center Brigadier General Róbert Tamás.

The brigadier explained that a bomb blast was simulated in one of Budapest's subway stations resulting in 29 injuries.

He stressed that the European security situation justifies to conduct such drills to preserve Budapest's safe city status.

Nearly 600 people - health workers, soldiers, police officers and disaster management staff - took part in the exercise.

The drill incorporated well-tested domestic and international proceedings, and the know-how of former Hungarian military health professionals served in Afghanistan.

The exercise took one and a half year to be prepared said Róbert Tamás.
