Asotthalom Mayor László Toroczkai vigorously defending MEP Krisztina Morvai's position on Jobbik

Tuesday, December 5, 2017

I called Krisztina Morvai this morning and we talked for a long time. There are conversations that can't be saved.

I still remember how Jobbik started out as a party, I was there right from the beginning. I also remember that in the autumn of 2006 Jobbik was a small fringe party with one-percent support. Then came the siege of the television headquarters, which changed everything.

Many of us stayed for weeks, months and years on the street, and finally, Jobbik became a decisive force; it was voted into the parliament with overwhelming support expanding its strength a great deal between 2006 and 2010.

We have done everything for our country, for our people, and for our nation, as opposed to the corrupt dictatorial political "elite". We, who were on the streets back then, risked everything; many more people would have been brutalised, and even shot at with live ammunition if the Associate Professor at ELTE Faculty of Law Krisztina Morvai and other human rights activists were not with us.

We were branded as extremists, who have no human rights; we were marked as targets who can be shot at. However, Krisztina Morvai, with her presence legitimised our struggle, by defending our rights pointing out that even we have basic human rights - she did that with the same vehemence as she has been defending the interests of the Hungarian nation in the European Parliament today. Neither transforming Jobbik into a people's party nor the better future can be imagined without her writes Toroczkai on Facebook.

Last week, former Vice-President of the Jobbik party Előd Novák criticized the direction of the party taken under the leadership of Gábor Vona. There are forces in the party that are waiting for the right moment to remove Vona as the leader of the party wrote Novák.
