One millionth new Hungarian citizen Miklós Lajkó of Gunaras takes the citizenship oath in Sándor Palace. Next to him his wife and two of his children.

We celebrate the unity of our nation, said President János Áder on Saturday at Sándor Palace in Budapest. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and House Speaker László Kövér as well.

Miklós Lajkó and his wife are shining examples of Hungarian patriotism. They applied for citizenship because they consider themselves Hungarian even if they live in Gunaras - currently belongs to Serbia. Hungarian is their mother tongue, they attended Hungarian schools because their ancestors were Hungarian. So we who live in current day Hungary have no other task than to thank them of their efforts to pass on their Hungarian heritage to future generations said President János Áder.
