Ukraine is sovereign country and has the right to deploy troops in any of its regions - said Ukrainian Foriegn Ministry Spokesperson Marjana Beca in Kiev.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó expressed deep concern over the planned Ukrainian troops deployment in the ethnic Hungarian town of Beregszász.

The Ukrainian ministry of defense argued that the military deployment was needed to preserve the country's territorial integrity.

This was a pretty lame argument said the Hungarian foreign minister; this means that Ukraine regards the ethnic Hungarian community in Transcarpatia a threat for its territorial integrity.

Ukrainian Foriegn Ministry Spokesperson Marjana Beca argued that extremist activities have increase in recent months in Transcarpathia; provocations are happening almost in a weekly basis, which has not been the case in the past 26 years since Ukraine regained its independence.

The spokesperson stressed that the deployment of a battalion in Beregszász was justified by security considerations - to avoiding further provocations.

The protest by the Hungarian side is playing into the hands of Russia said the Ukrainian spokesperson.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin at the "Friends of Ukraine" event held in Brussels on Monday blamed Russia for the recent attacks - a few weeks ago, the headquarters of the Hungarian Cultural Association of Transcarpathia was firebombed.

He said Russian secret service had used Polish radicals and assets from the Dniester region (Moldova's Russian controlled territory) to carry out the attacks. The Ukrainian foreign minister believes that Moscow will continue the destabilization of Transcarpathia.
