President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker will call Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Tuesday to discuss important matters of public interest and current affairs - said Spokesman of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas in response to a question at a press-conference in Brussels on Monday.

He said the EU Commission is looking forward to working with the re-elected Hungarian government to solve a number of common challenges in the coming years.

The spokesman recalled that the European Union is a community of democracies having shared values ​​adding that Brussels considers the protection of these values a common responsibility for all member states, without exception.

Margaritis Schinas also said that President Juncker would congratulate Mr Orbán on his victory in a letter on Monday.
