Viktor Orbán has completed his consultations on the formation of the new government

In accordance with the request of President of the Republic János Áder, during the past few days Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been holding consultations on the formation of the new government. The consultation process has come to a close, and the Prime Minister has informed the boards of Fidesz and the KDNP of the results, Mr. Orbán’s Press Chief, Bertalan Havasi informed Hungarian news agency MTI on Friday.

The Prime Minister is recommending Zsolt Semjén for the post of Deputy Prime Minister responsible for National Policy, Church Affairs and Nationalities, Sándor Pintér for the post of Interior Minister, Mihály Varga as Finance Minister, Tibor Benkő as Minister of Defence, and Andrea Bártfai-Mager as Minister without Portfolio for National Wealth.

Mr. Orbán has invited László Palkovics to be the new Minister for Innovation and Technology, Gergely Gulyás to be Minister heading the Prime Minister’s office, Antal Rogán to be Minister heading the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister, and László Trócsányi to continue his role as Justice Minister. The Prime Minister is recommending István Nagy as Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Péter Szijjártó for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Miklós Kaiser as Minister for Human Capacities, and János Süli to serve as Minister without Portfolio for the expansion of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.

In accordance with the decision of the Hungarian people, Hungary’s new government will be a national government, which regards its primary tasks as preserving the Culture of Europe and Hungary, which is based on Christian values, protecting the country’s borders, establishing full employment, supporting the birth of children and appreciating Hungary’s elderly citizens, the statement reads.
